Chain of Command

WTA Grievance Committee meets remotely on Wed.

2024 - 2025 Grievance Committee

Virtual Committee Procedure

The WTA Grievance Committee will commence with weekly meetings every Wednesday from 5:00

pm to 7:00 pm starting September 16th. We will begin the year conducting REMOTE MEETINGS via ZOOM.

Please read below procedure for WTA teachers who wish to discuss a possible grievance with the Committee.

Step 1: Teachers must first request assistance from their assigned WTA school building representative. The initial step in the grievance process is an informal one and REQUIRES the teacher to approach her/his immediate supervisor/administrator with the issue and try to find a resolution. ONLY if the immediate supervisor/administrator has been unable/unwilling to resolve the issue at this informal step should the teacher seek a meeting with the WTA Grievance Committee.

Step 2: After completing Step 1, send an email to the WTA Grievance Committee Chair Kacey Sullivan at klsullivan@waterbury.k12.ct.us requesting to meet with Grievance Committee to discuss a possible grievance. Such email requests must be submitted to Mrs. Sullivan no later than 5:00pm the Tuesday prior to the Wednesday Meeting.

Step 3: Upon timely receipt of the request, the WTA will reply to the teacher via EMAIL with a link to the VIRTUAL Grievance Committee via ZOOM, and an electronic copy of the Grievant Contact Information Form (page 2 of this form), which is to be emailed back to a grievance committee member prior to Wednesday night.

Step 4: On Wednesday at 5:00pm (Committee Meeting Start Time) the teacher will use the ZOOM link to enter the Grievance Committee meeting. Teachers will be placed in the ZOOM “virtual waiting room” until their session begins. Each teacher will be transferred from the virtual waiting room into the official committee meeting in the order of the teacher’s entry into the waiting room.

Upon virtual entry into the meeting the Committee will review the facts and issues with the teacher and advise on the appropriate course of action with the teacher.

***NOTE: On occasion grievance meetings will be cancelled due to holidays or other unforeseen events. Building Reps will be contacted via email in the event of an unforeseen cancellation.

***NOTE: Committee sessions with individual teachers will vary depending on issues presented. Please be patient while we work through the virtual waiting room.

Contact building Rep's if you have any questions.
